  • I wanted to tell your visitors about an emerging community groundswell that is occuring in Saanich. The local community is trying to obtain 37,000 endorsements for the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation’s goal to win the Saanich Chamber of Commerce’s Crystal Award for Business of the Year – Not for Profit.

Local community activist and philanthropist Fraser Smith has pledged $1 for every endorsement logged at http://www.itsourhospital.ca. Others are starting to match it so tens of thousands could be raised. We are urging everyone to visit http://www.itsourhospital.ca and show their support.

Thanks for your support re: my blog. NSO continues to make a great contribution to North Saanich and I appreciate your hard work to get the word out to everyone about local news and activities. Well done NSO!

Great blog! Fantastically well laid out! I’m fairly new to blogging and I’m still learning the basics, so seeing a blog as eye-catching and informative as this is something to aspire to!

    Cheers!

It’s nice to see this site up again, and lots of local information. Is it going to be possible to post pictures here? Keep up the great work!

thanks for the comments David. If you send me pictures seperate from the comments I will determine their suitability and post if appropriate.

The new format is excellent and I am glad to see that residents have another voice and medium through which information is shared across the community. Thank you for keeping NSO going as a vital communications link to where we live. All the best.

Really good to see the “new look”! The link to J H Kunstler is excellent. The “Long Emergency” is great reading but not comforting. Economic/petro-political Armageddon is looming, maybe not for us moss backs but younger folks might be dealing more with a 10 K diet than a 100 mile one.

Recent evidence: the Russians shut the valves on the gas pipeline to Europe for a couple of weeks. There won’t be enough for everyone.

    Great work Terry . . . . S

PS/ Remember – the light at the end of the tunnel could be a muzzle flash!

Thanks so much for reviving NSO – great layout and design and excellent content.

Local farms are an important aspect of daily life in North Saanich so it’s nice to see that they are finally getting the attention and recognition they deserve. Many farms may not have a website so we would love to see NSO provide readers with a feature article each month highlighting a “farm of the month”.
